SOLIDARITY STATEMENT FROM CSP-CONLUTAS TO THE GENERAL STRIKE OF SOUTH KOREAN METALWORKERS - KMWU

We salute the struggle of Korean metalworkers around 3 central demands that are also the struggle
of the working class worldwide:
1. Right to bargain with principal contractors: Against outsourcing and for holding accountable
those who truly control working conditions.
2. Employment protection against AI and automation: Workers, not capital alone, must decide how
technology enters the shop floor.
3. Industry-level bargaining: For a living wage for the category and to end inequality.
We condemn the refusal of large corporations to comply with the law passed in August 2025 that
recognizes principal employers as legally bargainable. 76 branches representing 21,189 workers
have demanded bargaining with 24 companies and not one has responded. This is an attack on trade
union organization and democracy.
The same logic of restructuring, layoffs and loss of rights attacking workers in Korea also attacks
workers in Brazil and Europe. Therefore our response must be internationalist.
CSP-Conlutas demands:
1. Immediate good-faith negotiation by the Korean government and employers with KMWU
2. Full respect for the right to strike and trade union organization
3. End to precariousness and job guarantees in the face of industrial transition with AI
4. Wage increases and reduced working hours without wage cuts
As we stated at ICOG: No struggle should stand alone. The victory of Korean metalworkers will be
the victory of all of us.
